Lost Acres Ranch consists of 300 private acres surrounded by woodlands and bordered by Greens Creek
and is owned and operated by the Norman family. In 1995 we began to offer hunts to the public due to
numerous requests from friends for a chance at a trophy boar. Since then, a limited number of hunts
have been conducted every season with 98% or better success rates. This is possible by restricting
the number of hunts and rotation of hunting sites to prevent hogs from becoming gun-shy and nocturnal.
In 2008 we introduced several species of exotics to the ranch and now offer hunts for ram species including
Corsican, Black Hawaiian, Texas Dall, Merino, Mouflon, and Catalina goats. Our rams and goats are scored
by the Texas Records of Exotics and Safari Club International systems with Bronze, Silver, and
Gold classifications.
Hunts are conducted from ground blinds or tree stands over bedding areas, water holes, or active bait
sites using automatic feeders. Every effort is made to provide hunters with an exciting and memorable
hunt. Due to thick cover and terrain, shots will be close. On average, the range will be 50 yards or
less. This allows great opportunities for muzzleloader, handgun, and bow hunts. Tree stands are placed
to allow shots within 20 yards. Stands may be ladder stands or hang on stands, 10-16 feet high. Permanent
ground blinds are available, as well as pop-up blinds as needed. Hunters will be escorted in and out of
the stands, and radios will be provided to communicate (if desired). Hunts are guided or unguided at the
hunter's request. Guided hunts are recommended for first time hunters who may have difficulty judging the
size of a trophy animal.
All hunts are on a "no kill, no pay" policy. If you hunt and choose not to shoot an animal, you will not
be charged. In the event that someone wounds a hog, every effort will be made to recover it with or without
the hunter's assistance. Hunts are conducted mornings and evenings. If the hunt extends beyond the morning,
a break for lunch is taken. Hunters may dine in Jena, bring a lunch, or eat with the family. Lodging is
available in Jena, Louisiana at the Townsmen Inn on Highway 84 East, 15 minutes away. Hunters may call for
reservations or we can make them for you..
